Joyous Day!

Monday, April 30, 2007

Today I received a very special package, from my secret pal!!!

I was so excited I almost forgot to take a picture before tearing into it. Here's a shot of all the pretty wrapping!
This I think is my favorite thing of all...the picture does it no justice whatsoever, it's absolutely beautiful.Washcloths for the whole family! Some pretty smelling soap, mango hand cream, and yummy chocolate...it's really really good....Nemo bath toys for the munchkins! Nick was thrilled, Alexis tried to eat one. Here is the washcloth I started today. It's fun and fast to knit! I love yellow too.And here is a sneak peak at the top I'm designing. Not done yet but soon I hope!
Oh and I keep forgetting to post about this shawl. It's seriously the coolest thing ever. I haven't knit it yet but it's on the list and I just wanted to show it off. It's a very complicated pattern, with pattern stitches on the rs and ws rows but I'm determined that I'm going to make it. I can't wait! First I gotta clear out the pattern queue though because this will take all of my attention and concentration, I know it.That's about it for the updates today, at least this time I included pictures!

I Caved!

I forgot to mention the other day that I finally bought a yarn winder. I am getting so tired of always winding it up by hand and then it rolling away when I knit with it. I want to be lazy and get the winder to do it. Ok I'll still have some work to do because I will have to act as the swift but I'm planning on getting that soon. It was on sale on joann.com and I can't wait to get it, I have so much yarn to wind up!

I finally listed all my alpaca on the destash blog. Hopefully I can trade or sell it all. Oh and if anyone wants to trade something for my simple knitted bodice top (see this post), I will consider all offers. It's worth about 50 bucks or so yarn-wise, but mostly I don't want it to go to waste. I'm looking for lace weight yarn to replace my alpaca since all my planned projects are now missing their lace yarn. Oh and the corset top on that same post is up for trade as well. It will stretch quite a bit, so let me know!

I have one other shirt that needs just one sleeve on it. It's the Krista Tee from White Lies Designs and it's done in Cascade Pima Tencel in 4084 (darker than the color on yarn.com tho... I think it was supposed to be called moss). Both of these tops are for a size 36 inch bust, at least...maybe more. So if you're interested drop me a line. I want someone to enjoy them. Usually I pass it all on to my mom but she suggested I trade stuff.

I finally got the pic of my rusted root top, and only because people came over today and I had to get dressed lol. Wow I'm really lazy. I just wanted a pic other than me in pj's lol. And I still have ends to weave in. I'm seriously in love with this top tho, it's flattering on every person I've seen make it so far.

I'm also making progress on my create-along top, which I've finally named. The Barmaid Top. It's inspiration was the barmaid corsetty shirts from olden days. So it's obvious that it should be named thus.

Ok well that's it for now, it's late and I'm tired! :P

Blahhhh....

Saturday, April 28, 2007

Just haven't felt like doing much of anything the last few days. It's finally starting to warm up permanently though, and today just sitting out on the porch in the sun while the kids played a little helped.

My secret pal got her package today! I'm so glad she got it and liked everything in it. I can't wait to get the next one out! I'm pretty sure I already know everything I'm going to put in it, I just have one or two more things to get for it. This is soooo much fun! Sign me up for next time!

I restarted my isabella, and I'm a couple inches in. Slow going on size 3's but not too bad. I also started another project from the fitted knits book and have probably 3 more planned after that lol.

Sorry no pic of the rusted root being worn yet, haven't felt up to having my picture taken. Tomorrow though I will try.

I discovered yesterday that I am HIGHLY allergic to alpaca. I had a suspicion but was hoping I was just sensitive to the scratchier stuff. No such luck. I took some baby alpaca and rubbed it all over my neck and arms and wore it for a while like they say. Ten minutes in I was still ok so I figured I was fine. I took it off and put it down for later. A few minutes later I started to feel like my neck and arms were on fire and for the next five hours I was miserable. It was pretty bad. So...no alpaca for me...luckily wool doesn't do that, so i'm good on that end.

Ah well, more later, I've got stuff to do today, school work to finish, and all that jazz.

Rusted Root is done!

Thursday, April 26, 2007

Can you believe it??? I must be on a roll these days. Finishing left and right. Ok here's a pic.Loooove how it turned out, still have to weave in the ends, and I'll try to get a pic of me wearing it tomorrow. We'll see. The point is, that it's done!!!

I'm really feeling the urge to cast on like five more things now. I still have to cast on for sahara, and cast on again for isabella. But I want to start like a lace shawl or something. I'm trying not to, especially since I already have one started but it's just not exciting anymore.

We'll see how long I last till I cast on something else...besides the ones I'm supposed to that is...

Hrm...what else...my secret pals package was shipped, I am beyond excited for her to get it. I've got some things on the way to put in the next one. I am somewhat torn though because I've got soooo many ideas it's hard to pick what to do. Either way I'm totally spoiling her by the time this is over. I've probably already gone over the minimum we are supposed to spend. It's just too much fun buying stuff for other people.

Ok welllll I guess it's bed time for me.

Tube Top Finished!

Wednesday, April 25, 2007

Finally this thing is done. Woulda had it done ages ago if I didn't have to frog it after finishing the majority of it. Either way that doesn't matter now. It is done and it's sooo pretty. I'm going to need either straps or elastic, but for the time being I'm thrilled.Notice the little monkey hanging off the hip...he just had to be part of what was going on.

On another high note, I packed up my secret pals first package tonight and it's getting shipped tomorrow!!! I can't wait for her to get it and I hope that she likes everything I put in it. I also can't wait to pack up the next package.

Ok well that's it so far. I am exhausted tonight so I'm heading to bed!!!

Rusted Root progress!

Monday, April 23, 2007

More progress for you. I've spent today working on my rusted root and trying to catch up since I had to frog. Here's a pic...and yes it looks funny since it's over my nightgown. It's going to be fabulous though. Can't wait to finish. That's all for now, I'm tired.

Tube Top Update

Sunday, April 22, 2007

Just wanted to post progress on the tube top. I'm at the bottom ribbing again and decided it was long enough to try on. There is six inches of ribbing on the bottom so I figured better to try it on now. Anyway it's much better and I know the ribbing will make it perfect. I will still either need straps or elastic at the top but that's fine. I'm much happier with it. It's a pain doing it all on the size fives, my fingers are sore, and I did an extra lace repeat...I probably coulda even done one more. It looks good though. So it was worth it.

I separated my sleeves on the rusted root so that should go much quicker now. I'm very excited about that and am glad to be finally making real progress. I might try that on once I get a few more inches done. I'm getting tired of having to put all my tops on yarn to try them on and return them stitch by stitch to their needles. Yup so that's about it.

Frog and re-knit.

Friday, April 20, 2007

So I had almost that whole tank top done, and decided to try it on since it was looking rather large. Turns out the center, which is knit straight for the most part, sags horribly and doesn't fit as it did on the model. I don't know what they did on hers. I think they made her wear a smaller size or something so it would form fit. Either way I frogged most of it and decided to do it all on the smaller needle used for the ribbing. In hopes mine would fit better. It's going muuuch better. I tried it on again and it's just hugging enough. Either way though, this yarn stretches a lot. I also redid my rusted root top, I'm back to about the same spot I was before. I'll take pics later. I'm too lazy to do much tonight. More progress on the secret pal scarf, it's muy bonita. I'd keep it for myself if I was greedy lol. I hope she loves it.

No word yet on Chad getting or not getting the job. We are both on pins and needles. On a good note, my college agreed to refund my class that I was going to fail b/c of technical things that were their fault. Well maybe not fault, but it went unnoticed. Anyway that means I won't have to pay to take it again on top of the first time. So that's good. Relieves a little of the stress.

Ummm lets see... I guess that's about it.

Deflated!

Monday, April 16, 2007

I discovered today, to my very surprise, that my chest has shrunk 2 whole inches. So that could be why none of my tops fit as they should. Of course when they were started I was two inches bigger and then they should fit, but now they don't. My only solution to why this happened is I recently lost a few pounds...and by that I mean like five. I must have lost most of it from my chest, god knows I haven't seen it disappear from anywhere else.

Anyway that means my rusted root is officially the wrong size... by a few inches. Soooo I'm going to have to frog it. Actually since I'm almost to the end of the skein I'm just going to start knitting from that end and just knit from the sweater. I hate frogging, and I always tangle my yarn.

So instead of frogging today, since I was sooo disappointed after all my progress...I cast on for a new top. I know as if I don't already have enough to work on right? But I'm in like four knit-alongs and this is the only one I haven't started the actual object in. It's going quick though, I'm already through the first ball of yarn and past the first section in the pattern. It's the tube top from my fitted knits book (gifted to me from my secret pal). I really like it and hopefully it won't look retarded when it's done and on my body lol. Anyway here's a pic, just to show how much is done, there isn't enough of the lace part to show yet.So that's what I've got so far. I'm really excited and can't wait to finish it!!!

Chugging Along...

Another progress picture of my rusted root top. I've been knitting on it for most of the day and have almost finished up the first skein of cotton fleece. God I love this yarn and the color and the fact that it's more yarn, so less joining, and less expensive. So here are more pics, one of the general size as it was a little bit ago, and a close up of the leaves again. I love those. This top had better turn out the right darned size too for once. I hate that everything I make is the wrong size, even when I do check. I'm craving lace in general today, I've been eyeing lots of shawl patterns online. Elann.com has 2 or 3 I'd like to buy one day and there is a gorgeous one called the Spring Things Shawl. And it's sooo beautiful in that green. I could also see it in a light blue, or white even. And only one ball of the yarn. Karabella something. Anyway, that's going on my to do list for someday. We don't really have much money for buying yarn and patterns these days. Which is ok because I stocked up when we got our tax return. So I don't really need to buy any more. I just don't have much lace weight yarn in my stash!!! I do have one skein I got from knitpicks in a light yellow that I plan on making a shawl with, but I'm not starting that (as much as I wanted to today) until I get some other things off the plate. Plus it's only 440 yards and it seems like for most shawls you need at least twice that and sometimes even three times that. So I'm stuck with 2 other random hanks of only 440 yards that I need to find projects for...dang it all.

I worked on my secret pal's scarf today (pats self on back). I got a few inches done which is good. I'm waiting on just one more thing to get here to add to the box for her. And then I have to get creative. I'm trying to think of extra non knitting related stuff to put in there and I'm having a tough time with it. Either way, I'm working on it! I really need to send it out but I can't till that other thing comes. And hopefully the scarf will be done by then and I can ship it out! Then on to planning the next shipment.

Chad has another interview tomorrow, and I'm really hoping that they offer him a job on the spot, but they might not. Either way, the fact that he got called back is good. We need this job soooo bad. So here's hoping.

Ok well that's pretty much it...

Slacker!!!

Friday, April 13, 2007

Yes that's me I'm referring to. I finally got something worth posting though. A finished object!!!

I finally finally finished my simple knitted bodice/sweater from stitchdiva and I'm so glad to be done with it. It's such an easy knit. I was just lazy. It should be more fitted but I didn't check the size as I went much. And it makes me look a lot wider than I am. So that's my fault. I also have a pic of a top I finished from an older interweave knits. A corset top. It turned out too big as well. It was one of my first ones. I substituted and I did get gauge but the yarn is a lot heavier and stretchier than the original yarn. So now I'm stuck with another too big top. I seem to do that a lot. I also started my rusted root top for the sexy knitters club knit-along. But they are in the process of moving their blog in some way. So I can't post there until they finish. I'm excited about it though. And thanks to someone very helpful (Jenn, whose blog I just found) I got the yarn I wanted in the color I wanted. Banana cotton fleece. It's gorgeous too, just the right color. I'm so happy with it so far. This is a pic of the lace panel down the side front. It's so cute.I also cast on my Isabella top for that knit-along. I'm doing the size small on larger needles. To get a size in between small and medium. So no pic yet, but hopefully soon, and it should go faster on bigger needles too. The only other thing I have to start is a pattern from the fitted knits book I got. And when I finish rusted root, on to sahara. Since the sexy knitters club knit-along is a double. And I've already got the yarn for it.

So that's what I've been up to. Hopefully I'll have more progress to post about soon!

Another insomnia induced post

Wednesday, April 11, 2007

I've found that for the 9 weeks I'm in class, I don't sleep well. I'm exhausted all day, and then the time comes to go to bed, and I just can't. The week off in between terms, that they use for grading, I sleep perfect. This sucks.

Either way, I'm up and half listening to a movie on t.v and knitting, and trying to find interesting things online. Here's a pic of a washcloth I did for the getstitchy along. It's a garterlac cloth. I plan on making a couple as a set and sending them off with hubby to work. Not for him to use, but his boss/friend's wife just had a baby and this is actually leftover yarn I used to make them a blanket a while back. Babies always need more wash cloths. I am going to make a pretty one for her to. Just because. So here's a pic. I'm 1/3 of the way through the second one. I'm aiming for four, but we'll see if I get tired of them before that.
Not much else is going on. I haven't picked up my seaming again. Although I should. I've got to pace myself or it really drives me crazy. I hate it sooo much. Mostly because that sweater pattern sucks. Weird shaping. Oh yeah and the one top I have to finish would have been done. It's got ONE i-cord strap to attach and I cannot find one tiny scrap of that yarn to do it. I've searched high and low. And I KNOW I had some. The tails on the beginning and end just aren't enough. That's what I used on the first strap. I don't know what I'm going to do with it.

Ok well I'm going to go try and seam something else. I'll post more tomorrow, I don't feel much like writing now that I'm doing it...

UFO's

Monday, April 09, 2007

Remember this sweater? Yeah, here's a sleeve, finally seamed. I've got three new projects I plan on starting this week. But before I will allow myself to cast them on, I am finishing the 3 I've got sitting here staring at me and begging to be finished. So here's the start of my endeavors. We'll see how this goes. If I finish this one, I'll cast on the next project. Otherwise, no! I cannot leave these unfinished and start new and exciting things! LOL, I'm retarded when I'm tired.

So that's the plan. Ok I'm going to post this here b/c I'd really like to get this yarn traded already. I have five skeins of this rowan 4 ply cotton in lemongrass. I want five in another color. Almost anything will do! I would love red or blue or purple or pink. Try me. Anyone, anyone who might trade, puhhhhleeeez, email me. See the thing is, I have ten of them, and five are for the Isabella tank on knitty. But the other five I plan on using for the Orangina top and I want a different color. Too much of a good thing right? Ok so here's hoping someone will trade.

I don't have anything else to post. I am still stressing over school, but I will know more tomorrow, so I'll be back to vent I'm sure.

Sunny Days

Saturday, April 07, 2007

It was a Beautiful day today. Lots of sun. Downtown they reached 75 degrees. We are up for renewal on our cell plan so we got the kids dressed and drove into town to see what we could get.
First stop was Best Buy. There we discovered that the third party retailers no longer give out the free phones for the new every two program. You have to go through verizon directly. So we went down the road to a Verizon store and waited forever to be helped. After looking at the phones and prices we finally just left because the phones are much cheaper on the verizon site, and they ship free anyway. 2-5 days until they get here. My phone is considered the main line so that's the one that gets the discount towards a cool phone. The secondary line gets whatever is free, or you can get a reduced price towards the other phones. So when we found that out Chad was a little upset b/c he had a certain phone in mind. I told him we'd switch lines. He could get the phone he wanted and use my number instead. So he got a Motorola Krzr or however it's spelled. That's the phone I originally wanted, b/c it comes in this hot red color. But either way, if I wanted to get it I would have had to pay a hundred bucks. Don't have that much for a phone. I ended up picking the Razr, in pink. It was only 50, and that's what I planned on using at the most if we had to anyway. I'm just glad we'll have new phones. So it was a waste of a day pretty much. The kids' schedules were all messed up too.

But even so it was nice to get outside. On the way up our driveway I spotted a lonely little daffodil. I loooove them. Probably my third favorite flower after Lily of the Valley, and Gladiolus. So pretty, they always remind me of that poem by William Wordsworth.

"Daffodils" (1804)

I WANDER'D lonely as a cloud

That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine

And twinkle on the Milky Way,
They stretch'd in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they

Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed -- and gazed -- but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie

In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

This is a pic that I took from the driveway. That's Mt. Spokane in the distance. The snow is pretty much gone now. I don't think there will be any more boarding in my future this season. It's good to have some nice weather. I really need to move somewhere, where winter doesn't exist. I might miss the snow, but I love the warmer months more. Somewhere warm, where mountains are nearby for snowboarding. Well moving isn't in my immediate future, so I should just enjoy what I've got right?

This post is turning out longer than I thought. On the knitting front, I'm 3/4 of the way done with my CAL top. I'm working on my secret pal's knitted object. Still waiting on some things I ordered for her to get here. I think I'm going to put together one main box, and then a smaller one later on. I joined the Isabella knit-along. Altho I haven't started, I have been planning to. I'm just finishing up those tops I keep putting off. They are driving me nuts. In fact that's what I should be doing now...

Yayyyyyy!!!!!! ...and then not so much

Wednesday, April 04, 2007

Ok so today was like a weird day. There were some pretty crappy parts, but at the same time, some awesome parts too. I got some fun stuff in the mail today!!!

So there were errands to do, and I realized on the way to the post office (which is the opposite direction as the gas station) that I'm almost on Empty. I live way out so I was hoping I would make it back in to town. I did. So I go into this little gas station where my MIL said they take checks, because that's what I had on me... and the woman there said no checks. I was r
eally not very happy. Turns out that they only take them from people they trust. She pretty much took one look at me and said because I was young, no. They've had too much trouble with young kids coming in writing checks and then the checks get returned. Friggen A. So I called my mother in law back and she said, let me talk to her. She knows her, so the lady there finally accepted a check from me and I got my gas. I was so upset tho, I was shaking and could barely write it out. Ready to cry and everything. Doesn't help that today is "that time of the month". So I know why I was all emotional. I usually have a tendency to cry then lol.

Anyway I did get two fun things at the post office but I couldn't be happy about them until I got gas in my car. One of them was my calmer yarn for the CAL. To make my second design. It's a really bright but not like dayglow, orangey tangerine. I think it's called tangerine actually. Way pretty altho prollie not everyone's cup of tea. And sooooo soft.I also got a very sweet thank you card from Grace Brunelle. I hunted down some kool aid for her and she sent me this card in return. On the other side of the card was a packaged of some seeds for some very pretty flowers called Cosmos. There was also a little velvet drawstring bag with stitch markers inside! Very cute I must say and very thoughtful. Here are some pics.So I ran the rest of my errands, went to costco (where they do take checks thank god) and got a few things. I went to the library to return my books, and got a few more with some cute patterns. An argyle vest I think hubby would like...a book with some cute placemats and bath things. The primary reason I went there tho was to use their computers to view my school's video tutorials for my 3d class. Figures it's my luck that they won't load there either.
I was also supposed to pick up some prescriptions at shopko, and guess what I forgot to do? Yeah. So that sucked, but Chad can get them on his way home tomorrow.

Anyway, so that kinda ruined my day again. But then I got home and brought all the stuff in and gave my MIL her mail that I picked up and she goes, oh yeah, that box from amazon came for you. And Chad looks at me like, what did you buy now? But I didn't order anything. So I opened it and guess what was inside? This!

My secret pal sent me the fitted knits book by stefanie japel that I'd been eyeing! I'm so glad that I didn't buy it when I was drooling over it lol. I'm so excited! I was dancing all over the house with it and showing my MIL all the pretty patterns. Even the babies came over to check it out lol. I can't wait to start knitting up all the pretty things in it! Here are some pictures of my favorite things in it. The yellow one is by far my favorite but they are all just so cute.

This blue tube top has a lace pattern down the front, sorry the pic makes it hard to see...

Thank you so much secret pal!!! This was exactly what I wanted, it's perfect and I love it!

So today was a mixed day, but now that it's mostly over I'm pretty happy and love all my stuff. I'm gonna go eat dinner now. I kinda forgot to eat today and I'm starting to feel woozy!

Bam!!

Tuesday, April 03, 2007

Soooooooooo, I'm a little goofy right now. Therefore I cannot be held accountable for whatever silliness may follow:

I've been knitting away at my top for the CAL, as it's mostly mindless knitting at this point. All the while working on hubby's resume and cover letter. Man it's hard work! I enlisted my sister and mother who helped immensely. But they are east coasters and had to sleep for work in the morning. So by midnight my time I was alone...and lost...in a sea of big words and definitions. Ok not really but man oh man, trying to write up a good resume takes forever. I asked chad to write down some of his job duties for his job now and this is what he gave me:
Answer phones
Schedule appointments
Customer Service
Renovate Vehicles
Organize, work area clean

Which I then turned into....this!
BAM
BAM
BAM
(Insert Emeril here)

• Answers telephones promptly to assist customers, determine their needs, and schedule appointments
• Renovates vehicles within established deadlines while maintaining a clean, safe, orderly work area
• Functions independently and as part of team as needed
• Completes assignments with attention to detail while adhering to company procedures
• Fills in for manager when absent

I rest my case, court dismissed. Ok some of that wasn't me, but some of it was.

Either way at least I made progress on my knitting... that's what really counts right?

Here's a 3 hour old pic which is completely irrelevant now that I've gotten so much further and what's really the point? Who cares, bring on the pic! Right? Right? What's a post without pics anyway. Nothing. Blabbering. Isn't this such a pretty color??? The yellow is ugly, that's just scrap for provisional castage of on.

Ah well I must really stop posting when I'm so sleep deprived. Jibbering nonsensical...nonsense. Hehe.

I'm the april fool...!

Sunday, April 01, 2007

So, today began with me freaking out that something was wrong with the getstitchy site. Everywhere on the board where it had previously said yarn, said squid instead. And sweater was changed to organ grinder's monkey, needles to chicken wings. I noticed that some people's profile pictures were replace with squid pictures. I didn't catch on until reading a thread where someone said, haha I get it, for april fools. Turns out the owner played a trick on us. After that it was pretty fun to go read all the posts with goofy words.

Today is also flash your stash day, so I took pictures of all of my yarn. Man I've got a lot. I'd like to trade off some of it. I am looking for quite a few things so I might as well. Either trade or sell. Anyway I've got to get that stuff together to take pictures of it separately. I tried joining the destash blog but two weeks after I sent an email to join they said they weren't taking any more members. Darn it all. I should start my own... but I'm too lazy. I also tried posting my pics...but something is up with their server or something. Stupid.

I started knitting for the create along today. I have yet to start my Sahara for the knit along at sexy knitters, but I will. I'm getting one or two other things out of the way first. Plus I'm almost more excited about my design now. I've got soo many unfinished objects on my table it's horrible. I need to finish them. Plus I really need to work on the things that I'm sending to my secret pal. I tell you what, I'm not taking anything else on!

Ok it's late...more later.
